I’m so thankful for it (now). A place to love, listen and grow. I’ve had seasons of discontent – more than I’d care to admit – about where I’ve been at any given moment in life, including whatever home we’ve had at those times.
“I wish I had <insert XYZ>.”
“We need more <insert XYZ>.”
“I’ll be happy when we finally arrive at <some future point that may or may not happen>.”
When I’m pinning away for a figment of my imagination or a dream that has yet to be fulfilled, am I able to be fully present? Engaged in my very own journey of life I’m living? Attentive to the family God has blessed me with?
Not fully.
When I step into gratefulness, I’m reminded how God has always cared for me, for us.
In times of little <He made a way>.
When we didn’t know what to do <He guided us>.
When life was scary or uncertain <He was our peace>.
When I’m living in peace, my home can be a haven. When I’m living in gratefulness, I can pour out from what I’m given to bless others.
Matt. 6:34: {Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.}
*I also like the Message’s rendition of this verse: {“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”}
